Young Bands Compete for a Place in Rockowa Noc History
As in previous years, the event opens with the Rockowa Noc Band Competition final, an important platform for emerging musicians looking to establish themselves on the Polish rock scene.
Five shortlisted bands will perform live before the evening's headline concerts:
- Worm Band
- Void Spectrum
- Liver
- MOBY DICK
- Źrenice
The finalists will compete for a cash prize, a commemorative trophy, professional studio recording time and the opportunity to perform a full concert at Rockowa Noc 2026.
Following the competition's refreshed format, each finalist will perform two original songs alongside a cover version by a rock, blues or metal band connected with Rzeszów. The competition remains open to independent artists who have not signed recording contracts, reinforcing its role as a showcase for new talent.
Armia to Perform the Acclaimed Legenda Album
The first announced headline act is Armia, one of the most influential names in Polish alternative rock.
Formed in 1984 by Tomasz Budzyński, Robert Brylewski and Sławomir Gołaszewski, the band has spent more than four decades building a unique musical identity that blends poetic songwriting with distinctive and often experimental rock arrangements.
During the Summer GIG, Armia will perform material from Legenda, an album widely regarded as one of the defining releases in Polish rock and metal. Fans can also expect music reflecting the band's continuing creative journey, which most recently saw the release of Wojna i pokój in early 2025.
Organisers have confirmed that three further invited bands will join Armia on the programme, with additional announcements expected in the coming weeks.
Building on the Success of the 20th Rockowa Noc
The Summer GIG follows the successful 20th edition of Rockowa Noc, held in November 2025, which celebrated the festival's long-standing contribution to the regional music scene.
Across two evenings, audiences experienced performances from both emerging and established rock and metal acts, highlighting the festival's reputation for supporting new artists while welcoming respected performers from across Poland.
That balance between discovering fresh talent and celebrating experienced musicians has become one of Rockowa Noc's defining characteristics, helping the event remain an important fixture in Rzeszów's cultural calendar.
Why It Matters
Rockowa Noc Summer GIG continues to demonstrate the strength of Rzeszów's live music community. By offering free admission, supporting independent bands and bringing nationally recognised artists to the city, the event creates opportunities for audiences to experience both the future and the established history of Polish rock in a relaxed outdoor setting.
With more performers still to be announced, this year's Summer GIG is shaping up to be one of the highlights of the city's summer festival programme.
